Local Entrepreneur Adrienne Pickett Chosen for Prestigious Tory Burch Foundation’s Annual Fellows Program
DETROIT, Mich: Monday, June 30, 2021 -- Local entrepreneur Adrienne Pickett, owner of The Guerrilla Politic, has been selected as one of the 50 early-stage women entrepreneurs by the prestigious Tory Burch Foundation Fellows Program.
Chosen from more than a thousand applicants for the Program’s Class of 2021, Adrienne opened up The Guerrilla Politic in 2017. After graduating from the University of Michigan’s Penny W. Stamps School of Art and Design, she spent more than 15 years in art direction and design, branding products, and creating viral content for some of the biggest brands in the world.
“It was really scary, especially as a woman and a single mom supporting myself, to decide to start my own business,” says Pickett. “I knew it was the right time though and I have assembled a really talented team to help me at Guerrilla.”
Since founding The Guerrilla Politic, she has helped more than 100 candidates with their marketing and communications and aided several PACs, non-profits, and progressive organizations so they too can achieve their goals and reach new audiences.
“My goal was to create a creative marketing agency driven by data, strategy, and a passion for advancing progressive values,” added Pickett. “We work with political candidates, nonprofits, and non-governmental organizations to raise awareness, attract supporters and make a difference in the lives of the people and communities around us.”
Adrienne is the only applicant from Michigan accepted into the program this year. She found her way into politics after getting involved with the local Indivisible movement in 2016. She used her skills to help promote up-and-coming candidates and mobilize voters to action. Her organizing efforts and desire for collaboration led to connecting Indivisibles statewide who could then share resources and information, strengthening their reach. She recognized the need to help build a Democratic bench across Michigan and the country and set out to ensure candidates up and down the ballot had the help they needed to win, ultimately creating The Guerrilla Politic.
“Adrienne is so incredibly talented and driven,” says Kelly Breen, State Representative for Michigan’s 38th House District and one of the Guerrilla Politic’s first clients. “I’ve won multiple races with Adrienne by my side and her passion is unmatched.”
The Tory Burch Foundation selected a cohort of diverse small businesses for the year-long education program. The Fellows also have access to a premier online peer-to-peer network, a $5,000 grant for business education, inventory loan-fund, and extensive mentorship opportunities.
